I give this more of a 2.5 rating. There was so much happening, but so little actually happened. I don't even know if I want to take the time to review this!
To be fair, I give this book about a 2½ to 3 star rating because it started off really really good. But somewhere in the middle it slowed down to almost a crashing hault and I was bored to tears!You first meet Dahlia who is a happy relationship with her long time boyfriend Ben, when she decides to go to a club and there she meets River. There is insta-love that she doesn't want to admit to and for the next 4 years she pushes him out of her mind and ends up getting engaged to Ben. And then Ben dies. [spoiler? get over it. It's better to crush your soul now if you actually plan on reading it.] I could handle Ben's death, and I thought she did a proper [if there is a such thing] amount of grieving and self loathing before decided to get back into the world and take a job offered by her best friend to interview....River Wilde. [Anyone else hear the ominous dun-dun-dunnn?]The way River takes control of the situation and let's her know from the beginning how he feels, made me love him. The fact that Dahlia let herself feel something she didn't want to be real because she felt it betrayed or lessen Ben's love; proved to me that she was stronger than she let on.Ohh folks, this is where I have to stop with the lovey dovey-ness towards this book.After Dahlia decides that she can't live in this fantasy any longer and must go home and deal with real life thus begins the back and forth and even when they finally DTR [determine the relationship], it still just feels like random, pointless scenes to fill the book until either the climax--or what I hoped would happen soon--the ending.I gave up half way through the chapters that were from River's POV. He thought too much about how he loves her & her pouting and how he wants her body. I didn't get a real sense of his life and therefore, I was done, 80% through.This may be the book for some, but it just wasn't for me.
Rush Me
[I give this 3½ stars, but felt is was better suited to be rounded down than up. Seriously, Goodreads... give us half stars!]I started this book with no hopes--that's been my recent philosophy--and though I didn't love this book, I did enjoy it. So I was pleasantly surprised.I will admit that the summary is a bit misleading. Specifically; Still, when Ryan’s rookie teammate attaches himself to Rachael, she ends up cohosting Friday night dinners for half a dozen football players. This teammate doesn't really attach himself so much as just find a friendship and want to keep it. Rachael is the one that feels obligated to do the dinners and anything else he invites her to.--But let's start at the beginning.--Rachael accidentally walks into a house party and the deeper she gets into the apartment the faster she realizes this is the wrong party. While she tries to leave, the swarm of bodies packed together block her path and she heads upstairs (though there is a sign that tells her not to, first thing that bothered me about her. Does what she wants without thinking.) and decides to wait it out. There she meets Ryan, who is dumbfounded at the fact that she doesn't even know who he is (first thing that bothered me about him. Cocky ass hole.) After having a bit of a tift he manages to get her out of the apartment. But the next day she realizes she left her scarf in the apartment and goes back where she meets Ryan and the rest of his football buddies who happen to be playing poker. For some reason they all invite her to sit down and play... because that's totally normal... and she accepts. My thought? Why...?I liked the book after the beginning, I felt like any interaction with Ryan and his football teammates seemed too "natural." No one, especially a girl, is just invited into a game of poker with professional football players and then invited to stay and enjoy pizza. And when she feels awkward, she stays and stews in the awkward tension with Ryan.Moving past all of that and getting past the friendships and developing relationship, I did enjoy whenever she did hang out with Ryan and his friends because then it seemed more natural and less forced. I felt like she didn't stick up for herself when she needed to and said things she shouldn't have when she felt she was being a strong woman.Ryan was a bit of a pushover, but he was an ass who had a sweet side and he confused the hell out of me. Yet I found myself loving his character, and any scene with his football buddies more than anything else. I wished that he had his own chapters so I could get in his head. I just wanted to know what he really thought about Rachael.The writing flowed nicely and I the transition between chapters was smooth. I enjoyed Parr's words and story and would like to read more from her. If there is a sequel, I'd most likely read it if it was written from Ryan's POV. But I hope she continues with the New Adult genre. :)
Falling Into You
This was just bad...! That pregnancy aft the end came out of nowhere. everything was pointless. I don't get it.
I was about to give up on New Adult, I was over the bad boys and the guys who were "misunderstood". I was over the relationships that spawned from underlying past feelings.... until I read Wait For You. There isn't a bad boy, he's not misunderstood... he's just a guy! And I loved that. And they didn't know each other prior to running into each other...literally.The story flowed and paced so perfectly for me. When it got to a spot that had it's dark moments, we didn't stay there long and I didn't feel like I wanted to kick either Avery or Cam in the chest so they'd get their heads out of their asses. They fought for each other on their own and together, and brilliantly I might add.Avery had her secret, which we pretty much learn early on, and because of that you're better able to get into Avery's head and for her to get into yours. Every decision she made was difficult, sad, happy, and beautiful. Whether it involved Cam or not.Cam. I have never really had a crush on a book boy before, I've always thought; Oh, he's cute and he'd be perfect for her not me. Or, I'd rather he stay far far away and I'll admire him that way. But reading this book I crushed on Cam; hard. I wanted a Cam for myself. He was adorable! And perfectly imperfect.Their relationship was the kind I think everyone should thrive for, friends first and then get romantically involved. Their back and forth banter was absolutely adorable and kind of sexy.I have a couple complaints, (1)the misspelling/editing errors, but nothing that made me truly think too hard about it. Simple things like "So I am." instead of "So am I." (2)Avery's friend Jacob, I don't know what it was about him, but I just wasn't that big of a fan. He had his moments, but overall, I didn't miss him in this book at all. And finally, (3)the amount of times Cam says "sweetheart." I'm not big on pet names in general, but constantly call someone by the same pet name and I want to push the "mute" button.The banter, romance, chemistry, sexy times, trouble, resolutions...everything was beautiful. I cannot wait to read more from J.Lynn (or her other writing name Jennifer L. Armentrout). There will be a second book in this series which is more of a companion than an actual continuation from what I understand. It will be about Cam's sister. I kind of wish it involved either Cam's friend Ollie or Avery's friend Brittany.I highly recommend this one if you're looking for a New Adult that is similar to most others with but with a little bit of a light hearted flair. And an adorable guy.

Look at that deceiving ass cover!This book sounded like it was just the book I was looking for; New Adult, road trip, long time hidden feelings all the ingredients for a juicy read, right? Wrong. So very very wrong.I'm not exactly sure where the turning point was for me with this book, but it happened and I wanted to throw my kindle. I was over it immediately.I am 100% over the bad boy in books, the ass hole, the guy who thinks he can be a bossy ass because it's his car and he has some damaging secret but yet.... he "loves you"... gag me with a rusty spoon.Bailey was one of the whiniest characters I've read in such a long time. And she sure thought about and begged for sex a lot for a girl who has never actually had sex.Oh and that secret Dylan was holding yes, it was sad and disappointing that it was ever kept a secret, but to hold it over her head was stupid.I feel like I need to say something good before I continue on my rant. It started out nice. I loved Bailey's spunk and "F the world" attitude...in the beginning. Basically everything in the beginning was great. Fantastic even. And then you get a chapter from Dylan and that's when everything goes very very south.In my opinion, if you'd like a teenage version of 50 Shades of Grey (which I hated), you like bad boys and depressing climaxes, this is the book for you. For me.. not so much!I don't think I'll be reading anything else from Shey Stahl anytime soon.
I'm only reading this to see if she continues to be as stupid as she was in the first one. Plus, I'd like to learn a little bit about Rush. we know nothing about him. I don't even know what he looks like.
I have been obsessed with New Adult, and lately (and probably for quite some time) that's all I want to read. This is one of the books I have loved in this genre probably my second favourite, next to The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden.This is one of those books that captivate you from the beginning and keep you on your toes as to what happens next. You know they'll be together in the end, but you don't know how, or what exactly their journey will entail. And you never expect it to be so beautiful!This book is mainly set from Camryn's POV, but it does go back and forth between the two. You get into the minds...the very complicated minds of these characters, their emotions, their demons, their love, their fights, and their resolutions. It's a journey that makes me want to live. It makes me want to get up and go after something. I'm not exactly sure what that thing would be, but reading someone else's story, though fictional, makes me want to just live. And I believe that is what this story was supposed to leave with you.I was a little scared for Camryn when she decided to just go with Andrew wherever he wanted to go when their road trip began, but at the same time I was so gald she did. The people and places they ended up, especially New Orleans (my home in my heart), I loved every second. Though the content is a bit mature, it isn't sex, sex, sex right away. They build up to romance, trying to figure out what they're doing in this journey and with their lives. Andrew was never pushy, just very very protective. I'm not the biggest fan of bad boys, but I like guys who look like bad boys, and luckily that is Andrew.One of my favourite scenes was when they laid on the hood of the car and let the rain fall on them. It's actually on my bucket-list to lay on the ground, in the bed of a truck or on the hood of a car while it's raining, with someone I love.This book is a gorgeous journey that is sweet, a tiny bit of fluff, serious, heart-wrenching (especially the ending), funny, cute, just....beautiful. I highly recommend this read. I cannot wait for the sequel. Even though this book ended in a way that was satisfying enough, the next book will be mostly from Andrew's POV, but still alternate back and forth.
